Our client is a large World Class Tier I supplier of machined automotive parts currently in the process of filling CNC Programming Process Engineering positions on 1st and 2nd shifts. This is a high volume mass production environment. This is not a work shop or tool shop.
Job Description/Essential Functions:
With minimal supervision, develop and maintain CNC processes for cast iron and aluminum machining of gear carriers, differential cases, gear blanks and steering knuckles. Job requirements include tool selection and ordering, tool path development and work holding design. A thorough understanding of GD&T, gaging, print and PPAP requirements is a must.
The job will require strong troubleshooting skills, along with requesting quotations from vendors, performing cost justifications, and taking the lead role in machine run-offs. The CNC programmer is also responsible for support with ongoing cost savings goals and operational efficiency improvements. Must be able to work second or third shifts as required.
3) Resolve quality and tooling issues
4) Assist in troubleshooting process and machine issues.
5) Train and teach the Production Supervisors
6) Estimation of cycle times.
7) Develop gaging strategies for components. Must work with other Engineers to make sure the gaging is stable and reliable.
Average weekly hours: 40 to 50 per week, plus overtime as needed.
