A leading international producer of specialty ingredient solutions is seeking to hire a Process/Process Safety Engineer for their plant near Port Colborne. The Process/Safety Engineer is primarily responsible for plant operations support, project execution, coordinating site safety programs as well as being responsible for conducting engineering studies for process improvement of product quality, reliability, yield, safety and energy usage.   • Provides 24/7 technical and general supervisory support to any contractors or plant personnel involved with his/her projects
  • Evaluate equipment and processes to identify ways to optimize performance or to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ensure environmental, health, safety compliance throughout project development and future operations.
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment problems involving rotating equipment, vacuum systems, heat exchangers, instrumentation, waste water treatment, etc.
  • Develop and manage elements of the facilities Process Safety Management program including coordinating HAZOPs, mechanical integrity, management of change, etc.
  • Conduct PHA’s on existing and new processes
  • Completes all pertinent safety reviews for project and process changes including HAZOP’s and Pre-Start up Safety Reviews (PSSR)
  • Monitor and track daily KPI's and make necessary changes to improve yields, cycle times, quality etc.
  • Provides material balances, PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment calculations for all projects.



  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering - Chemical preferred. PE license a plus.
  • 3+ years of related industrial experience in a chemical, food ingredient, mineral processing or related industry.
  • A good working knowledge of equipment, processes and safety measures in an industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Experience in executing capital projects including sizing and designing various process equipment.
  • Experience with executing PHA's, HAZOPS and PSSR's
  • Understanding of good engineering and safety practices
  • Ability to manage budget and to estimate costs related to various projects
  • Ability to support production operations and projects

University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
