Market leading Nutritional Product Company that offers a diverse range of innovative products and solutions, is seeking a Product Development Scientist to support multiple sites near Albert Lea (near intersection of I-90 and I-35) and Faribault, MN ( just 40 minutes from South Minneapolis suburbs). The Product Development Scientist/Engineer will work in a lab and manufacturing facility that produces extruded food products. This role is both strategic and tactical in nature and the person will work closely with the members of R&D. Will execute technical projects to meet business goals focused on new process and product development and process and product improvements.
Will manage all product development efforts including formulation, process development and processing capability.
Part of a team that will develop and test product development solutions for new product launches and troubleshoot issues with existing products and processes
Will oversee pilot plant trials and lead scale-ups and commercialization of products to commercial scale manufacturing
Establish new analytical methods to study the characteristics of extrusion food ingredients
Troubleshoot production problems relating to raw materials, equipment, and/ or processing conditions
Ensure regulatory compliance for food safety and HACCP
Provide technical research and customer support on existing and new food product lines
BS degree in Food Science, Engineering (Chemical preferred) or related field required
Minimum 3 years, 5+ ideal, of experience in process or product development and commercialization in the food science or food ingredient industry.
3 years of laboratory, formulation, product development and pilot plant experience preferred
Experience with dairy and plant based proteins a plus.
Experience with extrusion technologies a plus.
Previous experience managing process and product development projects.
Knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP preferred
University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
