JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY:
The Product Development Scientist/Engineer will work in a lab and manufacturing facility that produces extruded food products. This role is both strategic and tactical in nature and the person will work closely with the members of R&D. Will execute technical projects to meet business goals focused on new process and product development and process and product improvements.
Duties include:
Will manage all product development efforts including formulation, process development and processing capability.
Part of a team that will develop and test product development solutions for new product launches and troubleshoot issues with existing products and processes
Will oversee pilot plant trials and lead scale-ups and commercialization of products to commercial scale manufacturing
Establish new analytical methods to study the characteristics of extrusion food ingredients
Troubleshoot production problems relating to raw materials, equipment, and/ or processing conditions
Ensure regulatory compliance for food safety and HACCP
Provide technical research and customer support on existing and new food product lines
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIREMENTS:
BS degree in Food Science, Engineering (Chemical preferred) or related field required
Minimum 3 years, 5+ ideal, of experience in process or product development and commercialization in the food science or food ingredient industry.
3 years of laboratory, formulation, product development and pilot plant experience preferred
Experience with dairy and plant based proteins a plus.
Experience with extrusion technologies a plus.
Previous experience managing process and product development projects.
Knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP preferred
Education:
University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
