JOB DESCRIPTION

Product Specialist- Hoses & Rubber Products, Tucson, AZ

The Product Specialist is responsible for maintaining direct contact with customers and engineering firms, providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance, and assisting during test trial execution. The Product Specialist- Hoses & Rubber Products will engage in close collaboration with Product Management and Regional Sales Managers. The Product Specialist is primarily a selling agent to help achieve the short and long-range product-specific sales objectives established in the Company’s Operating Plan in accordance with company policies and procedures. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Realize and sustain product sales growth for assigned products in the Industrial Minerals and Hard Rock Mining markets.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to Area Sales Managers and Distributors/Manufacturer Representatives as appropriate and necessary.
  • Build long-term interdependent relationships with customers in different functions and levels of the company and provide technical assistance and support as appropriate.
  • Develop relationships within the customer base and continuously improve the company's standing to become a primary supplier.
  • Stay abreast of customer needs; new equipment designs and opportunities. Communicate requirements to product lines to help facilitate new product development.
  • Facilitate both tactical and strategic voice of the customer (VOC) to support business strategy and growth.
  • Monitor competitor activities. Provide feedback as to market conditions and pricing levels.
  • Promote and maintain a flexible, cooperative, team-oriented, and customer-focused attitude within and between departments.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Extensive travel required; 50-75%. May involve some international travel.
  • Comply with all Regional Sales Department and Company policies, procedures, and programs. Adhere to company values.
  • Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards. 
  • Responsible for Environmental Health and Safety management and policy commitments as prescribed for this role in Duty of Care.

 Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in the application, engineering, operations, and/or technical sales of mineral processing equipment preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Intermediate proficiency with using software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and technical presentation capability is required.

Language Skills- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Education, Licenses, and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree: Engineering, Chemistry, Business Administration, Marketing or 10 years equivalent job-related experience
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to rent or lease an automobile. 
  • MSHA Certification.

Work Environment

General office environment. Moderate noise. Work is occasionally performed in wet or humid conditions, high, precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, darkness or poor lighting, and near-moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, sudden temperature changes, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
