We have been asked to assist an established agricultural manufacturer to find 'the' Production Manager for their highly successful and established custom manufacturing/fabrication shop located in beautiful southwest Saskatchewan. Their established product mix means they have predictable, repeatable orders regularly (mid-volume run/lower product mix), along with periodic specialty orders with shorter lead times (low volume run/high product mix).

Reporting directly to the GM, you will be responsible for the technical management, supervision and control of their industrial production processes; overseeing shift lead-hands to ensure staff engagement and plant efficiencies are maintained.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Your responsibilities include:

  • Plan, schedule, oversee, and manage the production process(es)
  • Aggressively promote a safe and respectful environment; ensuring that health and safety regulations/compliance are met
  • Shop floor management (hands-on)
  • Organizing the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment
  • Develop and train employees; organizing relevant training sessions
  • Coaching, mentoring, and recruiting as required; performance appraisals
  • Ensure efficient performance - meeting volume, delivery, quality, efficiency, and production goals
  • Overview plant layout and assist with efficiency and flow
  • Participate as a contributing member of the management team
  • Monitor performance and proactively work to identify solutions for challenges
  • Focus on lean management by analyzing data to identify trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities
  • Administrative duties related to production reporting

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To ensure the safety and productivity of the team, the following requirements have been identified:

  • Specific post-secondary training, certificate, or degree that relates directly to this position
  • Significant experience in a variety of manufacturing and leadership methods
  • Proactive, hands-on solution provider
  • Good business sense
  • Project management skills
  • Solid math and mechanical acumen
  • Ability to handle responsibility and the pressure of meeting deadlines.

In addition - only those with a Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN) will be considered.
