JOB DESCRIPTION

PRODUCTION MANAGER

Location: Brampton / Vaughan / West GTA
Salary: Base Salary: $74,000 - $94,000 per annum
Industry: Manufacturing. Unionzed.
Direct Reports: (4). Indirect Reports (30)

KNOWLEDGE

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.

• Minimum 5-7 years on the job training in a custom manufacturing setting

• Supervisory experience, strong leadership and diplomacy skills,

• Experience working in a unionized custom-manufacturing environment

• Extensive training and knowledge of Health and Safety programs and regulations

• Ability to read and interpret drafting/blue prints

• Basic understanding of engineering skills and mechanics

• Experience in methods of quality control and inventory management techniques

• Knowledge of government bodies role and applicable legislation (I.E: MOL, MOE, WSIB Act, Ontario Health and Safety Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act)

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills

• Effective oral and written communication skills

• Knowledge of latest trends and developments in the field.

• Ability to use of PC, software and operating systems.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

You will schedule and oversee that all work orders received from the engineering department are produced and in turn shipped to customers on time. Your time will be broken down into:

 

Production Supervision (3 shifts)

• Maintain safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.

• Responsible for directing and coordinating the daily operations of a manufacturing plant including developing efficiency strategies to ensure the plant meets production goals and standards at minimal manufacturing costs.

• Schedule weekly production of work orders for two product lines

• Ensure that production schedules are met efficiently and consistently as possible.

• Maintain adequate supply of inventory (raw materials) for production at all times.

• Maintain and promote high quality levels in production process, through Quality first attitude.

• Ensure compliance with union contract and company policies and procedures and maintain plant morale and harmony.

• Submit recommendations for budget acquisitions based on pooling of needs of employees, management plans and customer requirements.

• Monitor operation of plant equipment and systems.

 

• Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime.

 

Integrated Communications

• Communicate regularly with maintenance technician concerning maintenance issues.

• Work with department heads including Engineering, Finance, Sales and R & D.

• Work with purchasing department to find any opportunities for savings.

• Work very close with Research and Development department to help them with new product line

• Participating in the business planning and budgeting of the organization

• Discuss the production objectives with the senior management.

• Involved in the annual business planning and budgeting of the manufacturing plant.

 

Development, Compliance and Assessment

• Assist in the testing, development & improvement of existing and new products.

• Make changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legislation.

• Ensure health and safety procedure and internal policy are updated yearly and followed.

• Carry out risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced;

• Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards.

• Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented;
