Opportunity for an experienced Production Manager to lead the baking staff at an established artisan bakery that makes a wide variety of products from bread to pastries and has a robust retail and wholesale lines of business. The Production Manager manages the day- and night-baking staff, the production facility and equipment, as well as the inventory of ingredients and supplies. This is a key management position that requires leadership skills, a high degree of flexibility, and the ability to work both independently and within a team. The right candidate will be a skilled manager, extremely detail oriented, able to communicate clearly, and capable of overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage a production team of 10-20 bakers, including scheduling, hiring, and training;
  • Plan daily production of baked goods based on orders and sales, striving to maintain high quality standards and reduce shrinkage;
  • Organize workflow to meet specifications and deadlines;
  • Optimize product and process development;
  • Monitor production to resolve issues;
  • Supervise and evaluate performance of production staff;
  • Ensure safe operation of the production equipment and facility;
  • Work to optimize the overall efficiency of the operation;
  • Communicate and collaborate with other members of the management team.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Job Requirements

  • At least three (3) years of management experience; proven experience as a production manager is ideal;
  • Production planning for multiple types of baked goods including breads, laminated doughs, and pastries;
  • High-level understanding of baking process;
  • Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef, or similar;
  • Familiarity with professional kitchen/bakery equipment, including ovens, mixers, blenders, dividers, depositors, and sheeters;
  • Knowledge and enforcement of health and safety - regulations and best practices;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Proficient in Google Apps and/or MS Office;
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment;
  • Team spirit, with a customer-focused / can-do attitude;
  • Flexibility to work in early morning shifts, weekends, and occasional nights;
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and regularly lift and carry 50 lbs.
