Flat structures - opportunity to shine
Production Manager to lead and empower your workforce to develop a continuous improvement environment to improve efficiencies and drive down operating costs using LEAN.
A global company in growth mode seeking an energetic hands-on Operations Manager with a calm sense of urgency for a high volume, multiple product lines, purpose-designed facility in Western Sydney servicing customers across NSW. The operation is a fast-paced environment with very short lead times and a large number of customers. The structure is very flat and suits someone who "gets out and about engaging with people across the operation and is hands-on". The previous incumbent has been promoted creating this vacancy.
Reporting to the General Manager, lead and develop your team of Operators and Supervisors (~40 employees), work closely with Maintenance, Logistics/Distribution, and Sales to deliver high levels of Customer Service. By working with and listening to others and implementing continuous improvement methodologies, LEAN, Kaizen, 5WHYS 5S continuously reduce the cost per unit and increase line efficiencies. By focusing on inputs such as training, audits, ensure high standards in workplace safety. Ensure HACCP, quality and conformance with regulatory requirements.
You are a Production/Operations professional, ideally with a university degree looking for the next step up in your career. You may have worked in manufacturing, printing, pharmaceutical, food, electronics or automotive products or companies producing high volumes of small packages.
You can point to success in leading and developing medium-sized multicultural and diverse workforces, developing a strong customer service focus. You can demonstrate operational performance improvement in terms of safety, labour costs, and customer service and have been involved in or led EBA negotiations. Your referees can attest to your "down to earth" manner, ability to build rapport and sound working relationships at all levels and ability to get things done through people.
This is an opportunity to join a vibrant business with a flat management structure where your contribution will be recognised and rewarded. The company has a strong preference for promoting from within and previous incumbents have progressed to more senior jobs within the group.
