THE OPPORTUNITY
 
This organisation is currently seeking a Project Manager to work within its dedicated Site Project and Service teams. Based in the Newcastle area, this role will see you responsible for project managing field service projects, involving the supply of labour and assets on company projects and directly into customer sites.
 
Suitable candidates must have prior project management experience  ideally working in power generation and industrial environments. While not essential,  background and experience with utility sized  generators, steam turbines  and associated equipment will be highly regarded. This is a full-time position and offers long term career opportunities.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Prepare and establish project management plans, priorities and availability of resources / tooling / assets required to complete projects.
  • Forecasting, coordination and scheduling of site based projects 
  • Provide hands-on management and support to projects and site teams which consist of Mechanical & Electrical Trades / Riggers / Trade Assistants 
  • Manage multiple and parallel projects in line with the company’s project management standards.
  • Oversee financial management in relation to projects 
  • Ensure that work is performed in accordance with health and safety requirements and company standards.
  • Carry out some estimation for equipment, tooling and assets & resources needed to execute projects
  • Support the business by recommending actions to improve performance whilst ensuring internal controls are in place.
  • Contribute to the achievement of the business unit’s objectives and drive for appropriate cost and productivity optimisation and capital efficiency.

 
  KEY CRITERIA

  • Relevant Engineering, Trade or Construction Management qualifications or relevant industry experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a project management / project control function in a heavy industrial environment 
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in project financial management, forecasting and reporting.
  • Experience creating project schedules and tracking progress of jobs against the schedule.
  • Ability to develop and implement WHSE systems and management plans.
  • Ability to develop, interpret, and understand technical drawings and engineering QA documents (record sheets/inspection and test plans).
  • Strong organisational and co-ordination abilities
  • Well developed people and management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Australian Driver’s License
