The Regional Maintenance and Reliability Manager directly supports the Maintenance and Reliability efforts at several sites within a given geographic region. He/she will provide guidance to the site maintenance teams and direct regional resources to support the equipment reliability. The successful candidate will be able to troubleshoot equipment issues and/or recognize/mobilize the resources needed to successfully troubleshoot unplanned stoppages. This person will also support planned production outages and projects. He/she will identify gaps in training, processes, tools, and spare parts and implement solutions to resolve. This role will actively participate in root cause analysis and work closely with the reliability and process teams to implement effective preventative measures.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Deliverables: • Using the Four Pillars of Operational Discipline and the Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) framework this position is responsible for (4) key deliverables • Identify current planned outage planning cadence at each facility and implement best practice across all sites. This would include the development of metrics to verify that outage planning methods and being implemented. • Develop a talent/qualification matrix for mechanical and electrical technicians as it relates to their ability to support, troubleshoot, and apply predictive technologies to the critical equipment. • Establish an action item list for the regional support resources including deliverables and deadlines. Continually revise and update to support the manufacturing facilities. • Lead and document at least 1 Root Cause Analysis exercise for unplanned downtime within the first 90 days of employment. Responsibilities: • Enforce all safety rules and safe work practices. This includes identifying any gaps in current maintenance practices and leading by example. • Plans, develops, and implements strategies and procedures designed to reduce downtime, supply chain losses, minimize operating costs, and optimize the utilization of technicians, materials and assets. • Direct regional team or reliability engineers to support the region. Oversee their execution of projects as well as executing other projects personally. • Partners with manufacturing leadership teams and engineering teams to deliver production targets and quality objectives through proper maintenance and reliability programs. • Provides technical expertise to reduce mean time to repair (MTTR), reduce breakdown reoccurrences, and increase Mean Time between Failure (MTBF). • Creates and updates standard work documents (SOP's) to develop and train maintenance, manufacturing operators, and Team Leaders. • Generate/maintain a criticality ranking of equipment and implement appropriate spare parts strategies and preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to avoid unplanned downtime. • Identify critical spares and identify system for sites' spares and shared regional spares between multiple sites. • Manages equipment change events and small projects to deliver new SOP's, breakdown reduction, root cause analysis, as well as risks and hazards assessments. • Audits the maintenance practices at the sites and provides feedback to correct and/or improve the local teams. • Define/capture failure modes and process interruptions caused by equipment failures and identify opportunities to prevent future occurrences. Use historical data to drive future improvements. • Develop relationships with key vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering is preferred or 10 years of equivalent experience. • Minimum five years of supervisory experience, delivering reliability improvements in a fast-changing manufacturing environment. • Must have experience managing maintenance teams and supporting autonomous manufacturing teams as they deliver continuous improvements. • Autonomous and Effective Maintenance in a process environment is preferred. • Must have applied working knowledge of time, condition and predictive based maintenance processes. • Must have experience managing P.M. (preventative maintenance) practices. • Proven track record coaching, mentoring, and motivating and managing employees' skills development. • Demonstrated experience proactively leading and coaching teams to solve problems, utilizing automatic line monitoring and other reliability improvement processes. • Working knowledge of Process Mapping is preferred. • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills. Desired Skills: • Experience in wood processing is preferred. • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel with the ability to learn other applications related to the job. • Proficiency in implementing and/or maintaining a CMMS (Preferably Microsoft Dynamics AX). • Knowledge of MES systems. • Proficiency in CAD software (preferably AutoCAD or Solidworks) a plus. • Knowledge of Wonderware (programming ability a plus). • Ability to read PLC logic a plus • Six Sigma Certification (GB or BB) a plus • Lean/Continuous Improvement experience.
