An exceptional Tier I automotive supplier has an immediate need to fill their position of Regional Purchasing / Procurement Manager for their multi site operation based in East Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama.  The successful candidate will have 10 years experience in procurement / purchasing with positions including either Purchasing Manager, Procurement Manager or other.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Description: Regional Procurement Manager

Position Specific Responsibilities (PSR)

  • Multi-site responsibility for all procurement related activities
  • Negotiates contracts with suppliers
  • Cost savings / cost avoidance / material cost improvement by plant and/or by program
  • Management of all operational supplier related issues (quality, delivery, commercial, payment)
  • Implement procurement process and best practices
  • Implement supplier CI initiatives
  • Advanced program procurement analysis
  • Business unit target identification and implementation
  • Cross functionally align with corporate procurement to implement overall savings strategies
  • Apply lean principles in SCM & procurement principles
  • Ensure supplier qualification process: Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost
  • Support PPAP & launch activity with supply base
  • Sourcing based on defined commodity strategy
  • Secondary responsibility for regional commodity strategy for either direct or indirect material category as defined; approve all category sourcing decisions to insure compliance with strategy
  • Maintain industry & economic awareness of trends that affect/impact operational effectiveness

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to make recommendation to effectively resolve problems or issues
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • SAP and QAD proficiency preferred
  • AS400 proficiency preferred
  • Excel Proficiency in relation to managing the plants’ roadmaps, savings and econ

 

 

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • BS/BA required

 

Experience:

  • Requires 10+ years

  • Must have direct management experience with large-scale initiatives involving significant dollar amounts and implications, a large staff, and involving diverse stakeholder groups
  • The ability to lead and motivate groups and individuals. Able to think creatively and strategically to successfully mediate and negotiate with individuals and groups internally and externally. Able to overcome obstacles and foster harmonious relations while working in matrix environment
