JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is a rapidly expanding biotechnology company developing a novel live-cell gene delivery platform.  They currently have active programs in clinical and preclinical spaces, including oncology, vaccine development, chronic inflammation and rare diseases. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary research team and make significant contributions towards the development of novel immuno-oncology therapies

Responsibilities:

  • Key contributor to the discovery and development of existing and novel gene-therapy targets for immuno-oncology program
  • Design and carry out preclinical studies to evaluate novel gene payloads as potential anti-cancer agents
  • Support research product development by planning/leading challenging research projects and collaborating with multifunctional teams
  • Evaluate new technologies, instrumentation, and assays to improve in-house projects associated with the bacTRL platform and external collaborations
  • Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data to review with the scientific team

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Immunology, or Molecular & Cellular Biology with at least 3 years of relevant research experience
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of immuno-oncology, including extensive knowledge of current therapeutic strategies under development within the field
  • Extensive knowledge in exploring innate and adaptive immune responses, including expertise in evaluating host anti-cancer humoral immunity and a strong background in T cell biology including methods to assess T cell phenotype, activation, and stimulatory/inhibitory interactions relevant to cancer immunology.
  • Experience with immune cell assays including cytokine profiling and phenotypic characterization of immune cells (multi-colour flow cytometry, ELISPOT, ELISA etc)
  • Experience in designing immuno-oncology animal studies and evaluation of post-vivo biological samples to assess local and systemic host-anticancer immune responses; an understanding of key oncology biomarkers relevant to cancer disease progression is an asset
