We have recruited for this bank for over 20 years.  We have placed people from front-line analysts through to Chief Legal, Chief Credit, and Chief Operations officers.  

They are a great bank with a super strong culture of accountability, analytics, and data.  I've personally placed people at the level of a Senior Analyst and seen them advance up to C-level in under 10 years.  

They have never laid off a person, not after 9/11, not in 2008, and not now.  They don't believe that a person should lose their job to improve the balance sheet.  It doesn't mean candidates are guaranteed a job forever.  People who are not doing their job well will be released, but it will be after every effort is made to find a better fit within the organization.  

Unfortunately, there is ABSOLUTELY no flexibility on location, even in the midst of Covid-19.  Given that this role is fairly junior, assistance for relocation is unlikely to exceed a few thousand dollars, but it is available.  

This person needs to be able to deal with brilliant and demanding people. 


This position is a part of the Risk Management department. Our risk professionals are tasked with identifying revenue opportunities and risk trends by monitoring the performance of our existing portfolio, growth opportunities, and general market trends. We develop and implement strategies for credit line increases, authorizations, collection, fraud, retention, and the sale of revenue based products.

In the role of Risk Analyst, the position will primarily be responsible for driving the Bank’s incremental growth through analyzing and optimizing Acquisition processes. This position will focus on monitoring, analyzing, and reporting the performance of application processing and underwriting rules.

Essential job responsibilities include developing and maintaining reports to track portfolio and vintage performance and profitability, present findings to upper management and making recommendations for improvements.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

·Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting the performance of digital and direct mail acquisition application processing and underwriting.

·Assessing all application underwriting rules and strategies to align for business standards and strategic goals.

·Presenting findings to upper management and making recommendations for improvements.

·Driving Bank-wide initiatives by representing Acquisition project requirements in cross-functional meetings.

·Ensuring new initiatives are optimized while meeting all technical and regulatory requirements

·Working with external partners such as the Credit Bureaus to implement and optimize solutions

Additional comments:

* Ability to resarch and investigate issues within the credit card application process

* Ability to work with other groups such as IT and Compliance to resolve credit card production issues.

* Ability to complete process improvements and identify gaps in current processes.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Managing Information Systems, Economics, Business, or related field.
  • 3+ years analytical experience in Banking, Finance, Insurance or Gaming.
  • 3+ years advanced use of at least one of the following: Microsoft Access, SQL Server, Oracle, or SAS
  • Intellectual horsepower with problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be proficient in data mining and systems architecture.
  • Self-starter, who can work independently with a high degree of organization on several projects at one time.
  • Sufficient self-confidence and ability to propose new ideas/solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to contribute to cross-functional and collaborative projects.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate and analyze large amounts of information.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft tool suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Knowledge of financial analysis and profitability drivers.

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Advanced degree
  • Consumer Credit Card industry experience
  • Experience in digital and direct mail markets and online acquisitions.
  • Experience in Banking compliance and regulations as related to originations
