JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:

The Rotating Equipment & Reliability Engineer assists the maintenance and operations departments at all sites to improve equipment reliability. With a concentration on multi-stage, high pressure centrifugal compressors and reciprocating compressors.

Daily Interaction: Engineering Group, Operations, Maintenance and Contractors at various sites

This position is accountable for working with relevant stakeholders across the sites to drive continued improvements in the following areas, with the ultimate goal of sustaining high reliability and on-stream rate:

  • Troubleshooting and resolving reliability issues with centrifugal compressors, pumps, and other rotating equipment
  • Assist with Turnaround Planning and Execution
  • Establish PM’s for compressors and pumps
  • Health, Vibration, and/or other Predictive monitoring systems
  • Precision maintenance procedures and execution
  • Defect elimination programs (RCA, FMEA)
  • Mechanical Integrity programs
  • Improving the knowledge and skillset of plant craftsmen and supervisors on centrifugal compressors

Essential Functions:

  • Functional expert on centrifugal compressors, reciprocating compressors, and positive displacement pumps for the Company
  • Contributes to the development, and performance management of the maintenance and reliability resources
  • Oversees the implementation, improvement, maintenance, and monitoring of compressor health monitoring systems. Ensures appropriate plant personnel are trained in system use and analysis.
  • Provides input into capital projects to incorporate maintainability and reliability into the project design and installation.
  • Provides leadership and direction for standardization and quality of purchased components, including input/interface with procurement personnel at corporate and sites
  • Assists in troubleshooting equipment and operational problems for the Maintenance and Operating departments
  • Assists in defect elimination programs, including Work Order analysis, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), FMEA
  • Assists in the development execution of precision maintenance through standards, procedures, training, and continuous improvement.
  • Implement the use of KPIs to drive performance and implementation of improvements
  • Oversees major overhauls of compressors and pumps for the Company during maintenance turnarounds
  • Provides input into each site’s future years’ Maintenance budgets
  • Analyzing Problems/Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Systematically determine the root cause(s) of problems through questioning and inspecting, and then identify the best course of action to take.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately compare similarities and differences to optimize or detect abnormal conditions within the process

  • Computer Programs—Requires knowledge of vibration analysis systems, data analysis and planning software tools i.e. JD Edwards, Viziya, Excel spreadsheets, Access relational databases, and basic Microsoft Office software

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (Mechanical discipline preferred) or verifiable experience and expertise in proactively managing multi-stage, high pressure centrifugal and reciprocating compressors
  • 15 years relevant experience in maintenance, engineering, reliability

Required skills and competencies:

  • Communication, interpersonal relationships, facilitation, influencing. Must be able to develop others and foster relationships with site-based personnel, including Plant Managers, Maintenance Managers, Operations Managers, Engineers, and Maintenance Technicians.

 

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Preference given to an engineer who is working on or has obtained their Professional Engineers License or CMRP

Education:
University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
