SAP Functional Manager search in Hickory, NC...Seeking someone to manage all or part of the SAP Functional team at some point.  They are seeking someone who will be a long-term resource who can be the center-piece of their SAP program.  This role is to support the entire corporation's SAP processes and potentially to be a lead role in two imminent integrations with recent acquisitions.  Overall, they need someone with MM, PP, VC, and current ECC 6.0 with a manufacturing background.  -- Right now, a manager level person would have 5 reports plus managing consultants as necessary. 


Title:  SAP Functional Manager Order to Cash

Reports to: IT Director

Management responsibilities include:

                Continue to support current SAP Functional Team responsibilities while also engaging the support and professional direction for direct reporting staff. HR duties include retention, new hire, schedules, attendance, conflict resolution, performance reviews and salary negotiations. This role will be expected to participate in Capex, operational budget, and managing contracted support services. This role will have access to extensive business information and sensitive employee information and must adhere to strict confidentiality at all times.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:


  • Responsible for the proper maintenance of SAP IMG (Implementation Management Guide)configuration SAP functional areas with a focus on Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, and Demand to Build
  • Gather and document business requirements and functional specifications for configurations and for programming
  • Responsible for logging, updating, communicating, and providing timely resolution of SAP help requests from the user community
  • Responsible for training end users on how to execute business process using SAP in an efficient manner that meets business objectives
  • Act as a cross-functional SAP resource to other SAP teams
  • Responsible for unit testing, integration testing and user acceptance testing
  • Provide support and resolve supply chain related SAP issues for end users





To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily


  • Business process knowledge of current SAP installation and SAP standard practices
  • Knowledge of integration points with other SAP modules (i.e. Finance, Costing, Sales and Distribution)
  • Expert level knowledge and experience in the configuration of MM Procurement/Supply Chain Functions including Indirect Procurement, Direct Procurement, Purchase Info Records, Purchase Orders, Goods Receiving and Pricing of Materials
  • Expert level knowledge and experience in the configuration of Warehouse Management functions including Transfer Requests, Transfer Orders, Stock Movements, Material Staging, Material Picking, Material Putaway, Production Replenishment and WM Physical Inventory
  • Solid understanding of the SAP data model and relevant MM and PP master data elements (Material Master, Vendor Master, BOM, Routings, Work Centers, etc.)
  • Thorough business process knowledge of the Procurement and Inventory Management functions is required
  • Technical expertise regarding best practices and technologies related to the Logistics functions
  • Ability to drive change with in the manufacturing processes and see through to completion

Education and/or Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or an IT-related field is strongly preferred
  • Five to seven years of operational experience in Supply Chain business functions (Production Planning, Warehouse Management, Inventory Management, Material Management, and Purchasing processes)
  • Ability to configure SAP ECC 6.0 is expected
  • Comprehensive understanding of SAP's Solutions Guides and Tools including the IMG (Implementation Management Guide)

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to mentor and lead junior SAP Analyst
  • Familiarity with technical aspects of SAP (IDOCs, background jobs, transport management) is desirable
  • General database skills
  • Excellent MS Office skills
  • Ability to present to and engage business unit leaders
