Seeking an individual who understands the complexity of payroll.  The person needs to know what data is critical to payroll and understand what is impacted (taxes, withholdings).  We want someone who understands payroll processing – we run weekly payroll – and understands year end processes.  Ideally this person will also have worked with Canadian payroll (currency, taxes, and have an appreciation of another country’s regulations).  This person will work primarily with the Payroll Manager as the “business” contact.  Some of the day to day responsibilities include:

  • G/L transactions
  • Taxes
  • Garnishments
  • Workforce timekeeper system
  • Testing
  • Triage of issues
  • Working with interfaces to and from other systems
  • Documenting processes and procedures

The HRIS team is comprised of 9 employees (6 BA’s, 2 Data Analysts, 1 BA for Ceridian P/R) and 2 contractors.  There are 2 Payroll BA’s – one of them is retiring, which is causing the opening for which we are recruiting.

Initial expectation of the role – the person will come in and come up to speed quickly on understanding our system (ECP – Employee Central Payroll), and asses / make recommendations on improvements.  Find ways to improve the processes.
