Our client is a growing Construction company requires a designated Accountant to join their team. You will work closely with the Controller and will develop and implement cost control measures that will improve the company financial performance and increase profitability.


  • Collect and analyze financial data as it relates to project, equipment, and overall expenses
  • Develop and implement cost control measures to streamline accounts payable, subcontractors’ payments, and change order approvals
  • Prepare financial cost reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing financial data and trends
  • Develop effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders in the purchasing processes to improve vendor’s services, pricings, and terms
  • Provide support to operational staff on matters pertaining to job cost analysis, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, work in progress and job cost reporting requirements
  • Initiate and or help create cost control process improvement and policy development to manage costs of growing company and improve the overall financial performance of the company
  • Responsible for the effectiveness, efficiency and integrity of the ERP system
  • Set up new project master profiles, cost codes and budget data in the ERP system and manage information through the life of the project
  • Generate statistical and cost analysis reports to support operational staff and assist in controlling costs to align with project, equipment, and corporate budgets
  • Responsible for month end reconciliations including but not limited to banks, corporate credit cards, and fuel cards
  • Responsible for monthly recurring journal entries
  • Responsible for updating fixed asset schedules and depreciation report
  • Maintain and update work method manuals on a regular basis
  • Perform other duties, functions and services, consistent with status or vocational ability as may from time to time be required



  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Professional Accounting Designation - CPA
  • Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in an accounting environment preferably in the construction, mining or manufacturing sectors
  • Prior experience and knowledge of ERP systems is required – Explorer Eclipse is considered an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office software (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Superior communications skills in English, both written and verbal, required
  • Prior related experience in cost control is desirable
  • Strong negotiation skills is desirable
  • Strong analytical skills; demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Willing to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
  • Ability to set and manage priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
