This job is a new position to establish the accounting processes for a recently acquired business.  The business unit President was retained in the acquisition and this is a key hire. .

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for the accounting and reporting around newly acquired Infrastructure Lending segment, which is made up of large originated and acquired energy infrastructure loans, plus some bond investments that behave as loans. Responsibilities include the update of level-yield models, ensuring borrower billings are accurate, preparing monthly journal entries, reconciliations of rollforward reports to activity, Actual to Plan variance analysis, and quarter and year-end financial schedules and related footnotes. This position will have an active role in the month-end close and Flash process. Strict attention to detail is critical as is meeting department deadlines.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

•          Review and ensure billing statements prepared by the Servicer are accurate and verify prompt receipt of payments

  • Communicate with Servicing for discrepancies and work with Portfolio Management on the management of assets
  • Prepare all accounting entries related to assigned areas and ensure the accuracy of accounts and balances

•          Prepare monthly variance explanations for significant fluctuations of Actual to Plan and Prior Period, as used in our Flash meetings

•          Prepare quarterly and year-end financial schedules and related footnotes with strict adherence to departmental deadlines

•          Assist with the annual budgeting process (if needed)

•          Make recommendations to improve existing processes

•          Assist with special projects/requests as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and Skills:

•          Strong analytical and ability to work on exception basis

•          Must be detail oriented with good communication and interpersonal abilities

•          Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word

•          PeopleSoft experience is a plus

•          Skilled in the analysis and explanation of variances and the ability to dig in to the details to understand financial transactions

Education and Experience:

•          Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Masters preferred)

•          Must be a CPA or in process of completion

•          Must have 2 to 4 years in Public accounting (Big 4 required)
