Medical Device experience needed for a Sr. Eletrical Engineer located in Clearwater, Tampa, St. Petersburg, FL 

This is a key role in the R&D department, providing electrical design and development expertise and technical leadership to the team throughout the entire product lifecycle. The position requires a team-oriented individual with strong engineering, organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to pass those skills to less experienced engineers.

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The key responsibilities for the Sr. Electrical Engineer are as follows:

  • Serve as the project manager and electrical engineering liaison with the engineers in our Bulgaria facility for the development of electrosurgical generators.
  • Project management of intermediate to large electrosurgical generator development projects or programs.
  • Provide electrical engineering support to cross-functional teams during the development of energy based accessory devices.
  • Develop aggressive but realistic project timelines.
  • Drive results through building relationships and strong technical decision making. 
  • Lead generator product development through various stages of prototyping to final design by applying sound and good engineering principles including product requirements, concept design, concept selection, prototyping, testing, pre-clinical evaluation etc.
  • Work directly with clinicians to review product performance. Define and understand customer requirements and translate those requirements into product designs.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for electrical safety testing and performance standards.
  • Evaluate and apply design tradeoffs and constraints for design optimization.
  • Ensure product design robustness through appropriate testing.
  • Execute reliability test program for new designs (including for example HASS/HALT testing)
  • Apply DFSS, DFA, DFM, Design for Lean and other fundamental engineering principles.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • More than 5 years of experience developing and testing electrosurgical generators.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical safety testing and performance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 8 years of overall experience with progressively increasing responsibility. 
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience developing and testing electrosurgical generators.
  • Previous experience in a highly regulated environment for Class II medical devices.
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety testing and performance requirements.
  • Comprehensive experience and strong track record in product design and development.
  • Experience in managing development projects with tight timelines.
  • Understanding of DFSS, DFM and Design for Lean activities in early phases of product design.
  • Experience working with clinicians for development of new products including translating user needs to engineering requirements and design.
  • Executing pre-clinical and/or cadaver labs for evaluation of prototypes and new designs.
  • Working knowledge of DFMEA and other risk assessment tools.

Education:
University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
