We have an immediate job opening for a Staff Mechatronics Engineer | Technical Lead for a $5B+ global medical business (Div of $15B company). Partial List of Responsibilities: 

  • Provide high quality engineering expertise for Mechatronics Engineering design and development 

  • Drive development of Mechatronics and Automation systems for future Instruments and Automation platforms; develop robust and optimal control system designs, champion new and improving products and Mechatronics and Control Systems technologies; drive creation of designs with robustness, performance, and cost as KPI’s; conceptualize and design solutions for specific engineering challenges; adopt and execute an ownership culture. 

  • Develop advanced control algorithms and designing and implementing robust control systems for high-precision motion control applications, Automation Systems as well as Thermal and Fluidic Control. 

  • Expertise in Dynamics, Control systems design, Advanced Control algorithm development, advanced technology development methodologies

  • Familiarity with product life cycle management (PLM) tools, practices, and procedures

  • Model-based code-generation and Hardware-in-Loop simulations (desired – not required)

  • Implement Machine Learning algorithms for sensing, detection and fault-prediction applications (desired – not required)

  • Develop models, simulation tools, design-optimization methodologies as well as novel Sensing, Estimation, Actuation, and Control solutions for a wide range of precision motion control, fluidic control, and thermal control applications related to Instruments and Automation systems

  • Guide Design Engineers in executing the Mechatronics design cycle 

  • Hardware testing relating to System Identification, performance characterization, modal analysis, and vibration measurements. 

  • Drive Engineering excellence by executing and participating in Center of Excellence activities and Design to Shelf initiatives (Technology development, DFSS, Set Based Design, Logical Decision making, Creating Knowledge briefs, etc…)


Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.

  • Must have Min 8+ years experience in mechanical product development with an emphasis on complex mechatronic / precision electromechanical devices (drive mechanisms). Industry experience should ideally be regulated or tightly controlled (medical, aerospace, aviation, pharm products, automotive; understanding of mechanical design and product development for robust performance with minimized cost and high manufacturability)

  • Must have experience with one or more of the following: robotics, mechanical vibrations, control theory, fluid mechanics, thermal, sensors/actuators, circuit theory, electronics, signal processing

  • Working knowledge of analytical methods as well as practical benefits and limitations of state of the art FEA and motion simulation tools (e.g., NX Motion, ANSYS)

  • Software-based & hardware-in-loop simulation experience

  • Proficiency in any/all of the following DESIRED: Matlab, Simulink, Labview, C/C++, Python

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

  • Relevant Certifications such a Professional Engineering License is a plus
