Our client is a leading North American manufacturer and distributor of building products for both residential and commercial construction markets. They offer a wide variety of products, with focus on roofing, coatings and insulation systems.
They are currently in need of a Technical Sales Specialist who will be responsible for managing the sales activities within the Western Canadian territory. This individual will collaborate with Independents Sales Representatives and Distributors across Canada and will deal with Builders, Home Owners, Architects, Designers, Specification Reps, Consultants, General Contractors, etc. involved in residential and commercial projects. The role requires a combination of business development and account management.
The ideal candidate is someone with previous experience working in the building materials industry and the ability to interact with all the major players in the Western Canadian construction sector.
This is a great opportunity to work with a large company owning multiple manufacturing plants across North America and Europe. This position has a clear succession plan which consists in moving up to a Regional Sales Manager role. Up to 75% travel within Western Canada is required.
Maintain successful relationships with existing customers while building rapport with prospective clients
Develop contacts and cultivate relationships with architects, builders, contractors, distributors, among the others
Increase market share through business development activities and strengthen brand recognition
Expand the number of accounts through proactive business development such as cold-calling, referrals, etc
Develop and maintain a prospect list, sales log and customer service follow-up schedule
Make presentations to perspective customers resulting is sales orders
Manage assist Independent Sales Representative and Distributors which are currently supporting the existing client base
Ability to work independently and remotely and travel across Western Canada to visit customers
3+ years of successful outside sales experience in the building materials industry, ideally with the roofing, insulation, coatings sectors
Proven track record in opening new business and growing long term client relationships while consistently achieving and increasing revenue goals and exceeding clients’ expectations
Demonstrate drive as well as exceptional organization and communication skills
Basic understanding of marketing and branding strategy
Experience with project tracking and project tracking software
