Our client is part of a large, successful and growing manufacturing group with facilities throughout Australasia and SE Asia.  They have an excellent opportunity for a WHSE Officer with manufacturing experience to join their team.  The role can be located at sites in either South Western Sydney or Western Sydney.

The object of the role is to deliver advice on WHSE policies and procedures to management and staff, to champion a strong safety culture across the workplace, to drive adherence to the Health, Safety and Environmental systems at site level and ensure compliance to the company’s obligations to provide a safe working environment.

This involves:

  • Liaising with external bodies such as Safework, EPA NSW and preparation of reports
  • Contributing to continuing improvement of the group’s WHSE system
  • Investigating incidents involving health, contamination, pollution and waste management
  • Resolution of waste processing issues
  • Conducting internal/external audits and risk management operations, ensuring compliance, monitoring outcomes and follow-up as required
  • Proactively identifying and assessing current and emerging WHS issues and ensure that appropriate control measures are considered

In order to succeed in this role you will require the following skills and experience:

  • 5 years' experience in a Safety role
  • Recent, solid experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Current working knowledge WHS and Environmental legislation, codes of practice, standards, and their requirements
  • Strong experience in conducting risk assessments
  • Strong experience of in hazard identification, risk management and incident investigation
  • Demonstrated success in both coordinating and leading effective WHS initiatives
  • Excellent reporting skills
  • Strong ability to influence key stakeholders and facilitate change
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Further qualifications in Safety would be desirable
