This is a credit union and there is no threat of acquisition yet it very much like being with a community bank in the Greater Washington DC market.  At several billion in deposits. they are doing deals that on average start at $1mm.  Several loans have been in the $10mm to $20mm range.  Most loans are CRE, investment real estate (IRE) as well as owner occupied real estate.  Due to rapid growth they need an analyst who can grow with them into a Sr. Credit Analyst, an Underwriter or perhaps move into a supervisory or management role.  Will work on a variety of deals and special projects. Analyzes prospective and existing commercial members’ financial statements and performs industry outlook.  Makes recommendations to approve or disapprove commercial credit extensions.  Spreads financial statements and analyzes credit information to determine risk involved in lending Credit Union funds to commercial customer, and prepares report of findings.  Selects information, including company financial statements and balance sheet and records data on spreadsheet.  Enters information in spreadsheets for computer program to generate ratios for use in evaluating commercial customer’s financial status. Compares such as liquidity, profitability, credit history, and cash, with other companies of same industry, size, and geographic location.  Analyzes such factors as income growth, quality of management, market share, potential risks of industry, and collateral appraisal.  Analyzes personal financial statements and credit histories for personal borrowers and guarantors. Writes loan approval record. (loan application), including results of credit analysis and summary of loan request.  Describes credit risk and amount of loan profit. Submits offering sheet with recommendation to approve or disapprove extension of credit to Director of Member Business Services and makes loan classification /risk rating analysis; and may present at loan committee meetings.



The Commercial Credit Analyst will be responsible for detailed research and credit analysis of business customers, guarantors, and industry and economic conditions for Small and Middle Market commercial loan transactions. Responsibilities will include: receiving and analyzing credit requests, spreading the customer’s financial information and making decisions regarding these requests within established guidelines and policies. Prepare written analyses, loan approval summaries and related industry studies to assist in the making of lending decisions on new, renewal, and extension loans. Prepare loan documents in the absence of the documentation specialist.  Participate in discussions regarding credit worthiness of pending loan requests. Prepare reports and other special assignments as needed.


Need high energy, team player, self starter.  Need several years of credit experience in a bank or credit union. 

BA or BS in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field required.   2-5 years’ experience in commercial loan underwriting.  Completion of formal commercial loan credit training strongly preferred.  Demonstrated ability to work independently, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of Laser-Pro commercial loan documentation software strongly preferred.
