JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities:

 

The Production Manager is responsible to comprehensively plan and manage the execution of daily production activities required to support the production and development programs within the Separation & Destruct and Device Value Streams. This position manages the Production Supervisor and Production Planner and oversees these roles in the logistics, coordination and execution of all tasks associated with product manufacturing.

 

Principal duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Developing the production schedules and maintaining the production visual board in each area, illustrating the status of the production activities for current programs.
  • Monthly assessment of technician and equipment resource loading / capacity planning utilizing MS project or MS Excel.
    • Presentation of forward-looking capacity in all production areas, with identification of bottlenecks and shortages, to site leadership at monthly SIOP meeting.
    • Conducting manpower planning to ensure alignment of resources needed to execute yearly backlog & proposed production requirements.
  • Creating the plan for the weekly work required to be flowing through the production cells.
  • Ensuring team objectives are met and visible through the use of SQDC boards.
  • Driving the execution of corrective actions and identification of systemic issues.
  • Presenting production area performance (SQDC and Program Status) to senior management on the Gemba walk
  • Coordinating team activities to brief site operations leadership at Quarterly Operating Reviews.
  • Ensuring alignment with the Product Engineering Lead to provide program execution oversight and guidance.
  • Working with other Production Managers, Product Engineers, Production Planner and Buyers to ensure material flow and production activities are aligned.
  • Working with Supply Chain group to establish and maintain stocking strategies and effective material kanbans.
  • Providing leadership and coaching to direct reports.
  • Maintaining team personnel development plans and overseeing technician training plans.
  • Evaluating production activities for continuous improvement opportunities.

 

Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, an Engineering Discipline, Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Strong planning skills, with ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and assignments.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, verbally and in writing, to individuals at all levels and to cross-functional groups.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications such as ERP/MRP, proficient in MS Office Suite: Project, Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Ability to motivate people, particularly in a production workforce environment
  • LEAN Manufacturing concept implementation experience valued

QUALIFICATIONS
