JOB DESCRIPTION
Director of Sales-Milwaukee, WI
Reports to: VP of Sales
Job Purpose and Reporting Structure:
This candidate will have the expertise to develop strategies that promote competitive advantages and leverage core competencies, organizational resources to strengthen customer relationships and expand market shares. This person needs to be familiar with working in an international environment with a diverse employee population.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned to suit business needs and developments as required.
1. Understanding the needs/priorities of customers and other factors that may influence business outcome.
2. Prepares and updates a comprehensive strategic and tactical sales plan for the assigned sector.
3. Oversee the activities of the business to support superior performance and customize service to key customers.
4. Serves as the leader working with other executives providing leadership in the establishment of policy and help in planning, setting and/or revising strategic objectives.
5. Develops sophisticated level of understanding of the marketplace in terms of market size and product categories, growth rates, emerging trends and technology, competitive positioning as well as the region’s ability to expand its business into niche markets.
6. Develop a team that will enable the business to grow aggressively and respond to the challenges of the marketplace. Assess employee development insuring the right people are in the proper place.
7. Responsible for appropriate company representation in its relations with key customers, technical and industry associations.
8. Responsible for articulating the resources required supporting the activities of the sector.
9. Maintain effective communication with appropriate global production, research, and innovation to insure that facilities and human capital are capable of supporting sales objectives.
10. Provides leadership in developing and implementing key account and target niche market programs as required to achieve annual and strategic business plans.
11. Establishes policy on sales and distribution channels for product lines.
12. Maintains high level of market intelligence by judicious use of industry contacts, trade associations, consultants and the trade press.
13. Insures that there is a steady flow of product development projects consistent with market demands.
14. Develop and execute key measures of performance in order to provide an ongoing
evaluation of the business’ effectiveness relative to sales volume, market share,
profitability, competitive standing, customer satisfaction, and senior management performance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for managing the Craft Sales Manager and overseeing the Team.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
This person will have the expertise to develop strategies that promote competitive advantages and leverage core competencies, organizational resources to strengthen customer relationships and expand market shares. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
The successful candidate will have had a minimum of fifteen years of commercial leadership experience ideally in selling value added ingredients and/or agricultural ingredients or products to the craft brewing segment. Experience should include a demonstrated track record of achieving aggressive profit growth. A technical or commercial undergraduate degree is required; an MBA or advanced degree is considered a plus. Experience in sales with an export focus would be well regarded.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
The ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports and legal documents with demonstrable skills to respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to present information and answer questions from international customers and their representatives. Foreign language skills (French, Spanish or Portuguese) would be well regarded.
TRAVEL:
Significant domestic and international travel will be required, meeting customers, attending industry functions and visits to affiliated companies.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as descriptive statistics, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations is required.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables along with a high level of deductive reasoning and clear communication skills are required.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Requires the ability to operate office equipment such as PC, calculator, PDA and telephone.
