The SBA Underwriter role is a key member of the client bank’s SBA lending division. The SBA Underwriter will be chiefly accountable for all underwriting analysis, due diligence, and processing the loan applications
JOB DESCRIPTION
ESSENTIAL TASKS
Reviewing preliminary SBA loan applications for completeness and request any items that may be missing or inadequate.
Preliminary due diligence and analysis for cash flow, financial capacity, and SBA eligibility.
Completing spreads, cash flow, analysis and preparing a credit authorization with a credit decision recommendation in agreement with Bank’s and SBA policy and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Underwriter will also provide supplementary recommendations on loan structure and alternatives that may be more suitable for the transaction.
Upon acceptance of credit authorization, Underwriter will endure to follow conditional approval items and other documentation needed to finalize loan approval and closing.
Assisting with portfolio management as essential by the SBA supervisor.
Demonstrates high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude and teamwork with clients, peers and management
Understands and complies with all company rules and regulations
Attends training and upholds a minimum acquaintance of procedures to safeguard compliance with laws and regulations governing financial institutions, as they apply to the role and job responsibilities, with an emphasis on the BSA/AML/CIP, Consumer Privacy, Regulation CC, Information Security, Bank Protection Act, FACT-Identity Theft, Information Technology and GLBA.

QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS in accounting, finance, marketing or other business-related field or any major with a minor in business or relevant accounting and finance coursework.
At least two years of recent experience in SBA 7a and 504 underwriting or credit administration in a banking or commercial finance setting, dealing with a range of loan types.
A detailed understanding of SBA Standard Operating Procedures and regulations is mandatory.
