Director of Nursing - Skilled Nursing Facility 

Beds: 272

 

Direct Hire - full time with benefits

 

$100000-$110000K with up to $7500 sign on bonus

 

Reports to: CNO of Long Term Care and VP of Long Term Care

 

Manages: Direct reports: 15

 

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 7:30-5:00 - or as needed

On call: as needed

 

The facility provides a full range of skilled nursing care, rehabilitative therapies, social and recreational activities, a medical model adult day healthcare program and comprehensive transportation services. 

 

Recent advances in rehabilitation services, including the development of a sub-acute rehabilitation program, have reinforced the facility's mission of assisting every resident in achieving his/her full potential. 

 

Nursing Home has Two Dementia Units, which provide high quality care to the Alzheimer's population. 

These units pride themselves in providing a level of service that continually meets the needs of this special population. 

Activities are an important aspect of the care at the Nursing Home. 
Their staff provides a wide array of activities to meet the needs and desires of residents and registrants. 
Many of these activities involve community events, such as the "Senior" Prom. 
They also provide many outings to favorite restaurants and shopping centers. 
Some of the more unique activities include overnight camping trips and theme days within the facility. 
Their mission is to provide an atmosphere that allows their residents to thrive and remain socially active in all aspects of their lives. 

 

THE POSITION 

The Director of Nursing Job Responsibilities: 

  • As Director of Nursing, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Nursing Home Nursing Department and partner with the Vice President of Long Term Care to help drive the overall success of the facility. 
  • You will oversee the delivery of quality care and services to our residents and develop and maintain positive employee and community relationships. 
  • Additional responsibilities will include maintaining standards of care, financial management and maximizing revenue as well as attracting, developing and retaining top talent and supervising and training  team members. 
  • Management of services will be in accordance with policies and procedures and current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern long-term care facilities. 
  • This executive will focus on the continued development of long term care practices and the professional development of staff. 
  • The Director of Nursing will proactively identify progressive, creative, viable approaches to deliver resident care, enhance overall resident satisfaction, as well as the culture of the Nursing Home. 
  • The Director of Nursing will have a resident first philosophy, foster strong partnerships with the staff and bring an inclusive and collaborative approach to the organization. 
  • The Director of Nursing will be committed to fostering an accountable, empowering environment that is supportive of staff and advances their professional development. 
  • The successful candidate will have a proven record of accomplishment and strong leadership skills, to ensure that the improvement process within the facilities continues, that priorities are established, and that goals are met. 
  • He/She is responsible for improving the quality, service and fiscal management of the Nursing Department. 

QUALIFICATIONS

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree required. 
  • Master's Degree preferred and formal education as a Registered Nurse is required.  
  • Current Registered Nurse Licensure on file with the New York State Department of Education.

 

Minimum Experience Requirement: 

  • A minimum of eight years clinical experience in progressive nursing level positions at a health care institution. 
  • 3-5 years exp in a supervisory/management role. 
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of Nursing practices and principles. 
  • Must be knowledgeable of new trends in clinical practice, and be able to apply data and analyze issues to ensure continuous improvement of practice. 
  • Clinical experience with geriatric population preferred.

Education:
University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
